Reclink: What’s it about and how it will assist St Pat’s.
RecLink Australia (previously known as Recreation Link) began in Melbourne in 1990, with the purpose of assisting people experiencing social and economic disadvantage to access sporting and recreational opportunities as a form of social therapy. It is a not-for-profit charitable organisation dedicated to advocating for and improving access to sporting and recreational opportunities for disadvantaged people and the benefits which flow from this, such as community connectedness and improved health and well being.
St Patrick’s have recently spent some time with Peter Cullen (Reclink’s Development Manager) discussing the possibilities available to not only St Patrick’s, but to other agencies within the Fremantle region. From these discussions, St Patrick’s will be involved in organising a 20 / 20 cricket competition with other agencies such as 55 Central and St Bartholomew’s whilst The Big Issue has shown a keen interest in taking part in the competition.
Another exciting development is that of a Reclink lawn bowls competition that has been ear marked to commence in mid January 2009. St Patrick’s would like to thank the Fremantle Bowling Club for its enthusiasm in embracing the concept of the competition and has stated that it is there to assist St Patrick’s in any capacity that it can.
So there you have it, an exciting innovation that has great potential to assist St Patrick’s in delivering the best possible service to those in need.
